Dope project from the homie Lyriciss: “Underground emcee Lyriciss has come together with The DJBooth to bring listeners his latest street release, The Balance EP: Money. The second in a four-part series kicked off with last November’s Respect EP, the project features four original records from the DMV rhymesayer, along with clean versions of each track. Included are previously-leaked, reader-approved joints “Big Gold Chain” and “Get It & Go.” Lyriciss provides all mic work throughout The Balance EP: Money, which is Executive Produced by Inner Loop Media Group and features beats from Grussle, J-Scrilla and Soulful!. Cuts come courtesy of J-Scrilla and DJ I-Dee. Watch for entry number three in the Balance series, Heart, the hit the ‘net in the near future!” Continue Reading →
Another tough track from the homie: “Is it worth risking your freedom and potentially your life for a pile of cash and a “Big Gold Chain”? Crazy as the bet may seem, all-too-many inner-city youths are willing to put everything on the line for a chance to shine. On B’ latest single, the DMV rhymesayer offers listeners a little insight into social and economic conditions that turn poverty-stricken individuals into compulsive paper-chasers, and the often dire consequences of such an addiction. Watch for The Balance: Money EP to arrive on DJBooth.net next Tuesday, January 24.”

What a phenomenal tandem; I’ll let Lyriciss tell the story: “it turns out that a fan from London ended up hitting DJ Premier on Twitter about my most recent EP, The Balance: Respect, and Preemo actually checked it out and loved it. The week after this happens, sure enough, DJ Premier ends up playing “The Balance” during his show on SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation, “Live From HeadQCourterz” (12/2/2011). Needless to say, DJ Premier went IN (pause? I don’t know, I don’t say “pause”, I’m grown…lol) on the scratches and bringing the record back.” Continue Reading →
I’m just a fan of all of these artists. Hit the jump for the full synopsis. Continue Reading →
My homie Lyriciss sent me this Ep earlier in the day, so I apologize for the delay if you were looking for this release. The joint is dope by all means, and Im glad Lyriciss remains true to his craft. Dope Hip-Hop at all times, the DMV artist shows his lyrical skills and a glimpse of whats to come in the future. I didn’t know what to think when I read “featuring Ray J”, but you can expect nothing short of creative genius when you get a track from Lyriciss, and this track, with assistance from DJ J-Scrilla and Chop-La-Rok, has that golden-era feel to it. Get ready for the Respect EP, the first of four installments from his The Balance album. Continue Reading →
The track literally dropped the other day (no, really, check this), and already Lyriciss blesses us with the visual, as directed by Chop N Shoot Films. Continue Reading →

Been waiting too long for this! “Underground up-and-comer Pro’Verb has hooked up with DJBooth.net to bring listeners his latest street album, While You’reWaiting… The DMV lyricist’s first mixtape since 2008, the project features 14 original records. Included on the tracklist are reader-approved leaks “Can’t Forget About You,”“Write Brothers” and “Too Hip Hop.” Joining Pro’Verb on the guest tip throughout While You’re Waiting… are such notable emcees as RAtheMC, yU (of Diamond District) and DC Don Juan. Beats come courtesy of J-Scrilla, Kokayi, Grussle, Souful, and more.” Continue Reading →
This was recently exclusively on DJ Booth. Tough track! “Back in 1903, brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright succeeded where countless before them had failed, accomplishing the first sustained, heavier-than-air human flight. While DMV reppers Pro’Verb and Lyriciss (aka the Write Brothers) may not have anything quite that revolutionary on their resume, they are pretty damn fly, as demonstrated on the former’s latest mixtape single. Complete with a head-noddable beat by Mark Henry, this soaring banger selection is just one of many bangers in store on Pro’Verb’s While You’re Waiting… LP, scheduled for landing September 2.” Continue Reading →
Inner Loop Records always finds a way to raise the bar in this area, especially in their willingness to promote others within the area – think back to their production competitions and odes to classic hip-hop albums. With Capitol Punishment, they provide a platform for well-established emcees from this area alongside up-and-coming emcees. Continue Reading →
Oh man, I’m incredibly late on this, I know, but this is definitely a track that needs its due shine. Continue Reading →
Here’s a fresh video from Laelo Hood’s most-recent project, Fuck the World. “Cool” finds Laleo alongside Pro’Verb and Lyriciss in a Shaft-like feature, with all three explaining why they’re so cool.
