First Joe Frazier… Now Heavy D. We have lost 2 legends this week and the sports/music community is lost for words. We recently saw Heavy D perform at the 2011 BET Awards, the first performance in a 15 year hiatus. The rapper hailing from Jamaica/Mount Vernon NY was bigger than life. I remember my pops blasting the Heavy D & The Boyz tape when we would go on road trips during the summer. This was one of my favorite song’s and music video during his career. RIP Heavy D (May 24, 1967 – November 8, 2011).
I was on complex magazine’s website one day, and saw a pic of this phat ass beige joint name Iggy Azalea. I thought she was a model or something so I didn’t pay any mind. Then I read some of the article and found out that she is an rapper from Australia. Dope Right? I get home and check my e-mails only to find a video she recently put out…..And I must say I am A FAN lol! She has a nice lil flow, and she is low-key fresh. Plus she got Debo in the video ahahaha. Me and my bro @JusCervantes used to have freestyle sessions before Music Class every Tuesday & Thursday my junior year and son used to spit something serious. I was hype when he told me he was working on a mixtape with @VenueRay titled “Annexation” under the group name “Sophomores“. This joint ClimAx has a vintage hip-hop feel to it, and I knew from jump that the duo was onto something dope. @JusCervantes hailing from LA and @VenueRay from Brooklyn, its only right you get the best of both worlds on this joint!
Me and DB go way back to junior high school, when I was selling GoGo cds and he was making beats. Now the Southside Rapper/Producer is making a name for himself in a major way! Proud to see my homie doing it big, and his craft speaks for itself. This joint “Bring A Friend” is one of my favorite joints out right now, and anytime I play this around females they nod their head and smile.
