ILLVIBES IS CURRENTLY UNDER MAINTENANCE MODE: SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!

Cocaine 80′s – Queen To Be

I absolutely adore the organic feel of Cocaine 80′s, a collective that’s garnering a nice grassroots following to the point that anticipation has been heavy for anything to drop by them. The production on this track is simple yet refined, with James Fauntleroy delicately directing this track with soul precision, inviting those faced with “whips and chains” to find their royal escape. Childish Gambino – We Ain’t Them

Over a calm, mellow beat, Childish Gambino unleashes a flurry of random musings, but it works, and it’s rather soothing to just engulf yourself in this track. Continue Reading →

Mixtape: Logic – Young Sinatra: Undeniable | @Logic301 #Undeniable

Visionary Music Group’s Logic a/k/a “Young Sinatra” aka the Leader of the Ratt Pack and, frankly, my favorite emcee right now drops the latest installment of his Young Sinatra series, this one entitled Undeniable, which features production from his go-to homie 6ix, along wit OB and C-Sick, and what really stands out is that Logic–for the most part–is the lone emcee throughout the whole produce, inviting fans and new listeners to hear Logic in his true form, honestly raw with every nuance and open platform. I must say, though, that (to give another shoutout to another dope emcee in QuESt) I absolutely love this damn collab, something I haven’t stopped listening to in weeks. Continue Reading →

VIDEO: The ILLZ – Faded | @TheILLZ

Dubbed as Chapter 4 of the film Let It Fall (watch the others here), the visuals for “Faded” from The ILLZ, with the direction of Kristopher Rey-Talley, provide an emotionally laden, plot-ridden story that’s sure to be a sign of wonders that we will expect from his The Darkest Hour project Continue Reading →

Mixtape: SonReal – Words I Said | @TheRealSonReal

Vancouver’s SonReal drops the follow-up to his debut and heavily acclaimed Good Morning, Words I Said, which serves as a precursor to his debut album Good News, which will feature production from Arthur McArthur (Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Tyga), Chin Injeti (Eminem, Dr Dre) and Rich Kidd (Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica, Busta Rhymes) and featured verses from Saigon, Emilio Rojas, Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother and more. Lit – My Own Worst Enemy (Clinton Sparks Awesome Remix) | @ClintonSparks

I absolutely love when artists revive past hits. I mean, Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy” is a microcosm of my youth, one of the major hits from my high-school days (and, yes, I did just reveal my age, but it’s now time to embrace it). Clinton Sparks provides his own creative twist on the track, embellishing it with an uptempo, hyperventilating sound and invigorating my youthful spirit (for the moment). This is also a track that’s been co-signed by Lit’s lead singer Ajay Popoff. By the way, you’re going to hear more from Clinton soon, as he prepares to unload a variety of collaborations with Akon, Pitbull, Chris Brown and others. Continue Reading →

N.VS ft. Cody Decamary – Paper Masks | @NdotVS

I don’t know much about N.VS (other than he rocks hoop earrings like the GOAT MJ), but he caught my attention with this track “Paper Masks,” which epitomizes gritty hip-hop and showcases these emcees’ ability to propel alliterative bars that just sound so damn cold. Continue Reading →

QuESt – Stop The Wackness (Buried Ya)

Continuing the promotion of his Fear Not Failure (although he really needs no additional promotion to further persuade people to listen to this project), QuESt drops this own version of Kanye’s “Way Too Cold” entitled “Stop The Wackness (Buried Ya)”. Continue Reading →

VIDEO: Big Shug ft. Av’rex, Singapore Kane, Krumb Snatcha & M-Dot – Think Twice

It’s nothing but pure hip-hop here, with a huge initial co-sign from DJ Premier at the beginning of the “Think Twice” video featuring Big Shug of the Gangstarr Foundation, Av’rex, Singapore Kane, Krumb Snatcha and M-Dot. Continue Reading →

VIDEO: Rockie Fresh – Into The Future

Continuing the Back to the Future theme that we saw in his “How We Do” video, Rockie Fresh now re-creates the Delorean and even the easily recognizable tower-clock set for the video for “Into the Future”, which you can find on Rockie’s Driving 88 project. Continue Reading →

LYRIC VIDEO: Outasight – Now Or Never | @Outasight #NowOrNever

With incredible success with “Tonight is the Night”, Outasight drops another huge single that screams mass commercial appeal and the perfect ignition for a crazy Ibiza-like night. It’s time to capture the moment, according to Outasight, and with this jam, you can think only about the present. Continue Reading →

Album: J NICS – The Product | @JNICS305

Here’s a dope project from J NICS brought to us by The DJBooth: “Panhandle State rhymesayer J NICS has come together with The DJBooth and Last Rights to bring listeners The Product, the second and final installment in his Southern N*ggas Ain’t Slow mixtape series. The follow-up to fall 2011’s SNAS: The Tribute (which found NICS freestyling over beats from Southern classics), the project features 11 original records from the buzzmaking emcee. VIDEO: Vinny Cha$e – Urban Outfitters (Prod. Lex Luger) | @VinnyChaseNYC

When you have tattoo-clad women and Marc Jacobs in a pink outfit in your video, you definitely can’t go wrong. The question remains, how did Vinny Cha$e stumble upon that combination for the visuals for his Lex Luger-produced “Urban Outfitters”, which you can find from his Survival of the Swag mixtape. John Legend ft. Dunson – Tonight (Best You Ever Had) [Remix] | @KentonDunson
